We design and install aluminum patio cover systems — insulated and non-insulated — that extend your living space outdoors. Permitted installations with options for ceiling fans, recessed lighting, skylights, and speakers.
Honest information about how we work, what's included, and what it costs. No surprises.
Alumawood is a high-quality aluminum patio cover system that mimics the look of wood grain without the maintenance. It won't rot, warp, or require painting. We install both the solid insulated panel system (fully weatherproof, usable year-round) and the non-insulated interlocking panel system (partial shade, lower cost). Both are permitted installations attached to the home's fascia or on freestanding posts.
The insulated cover uses foam-filled aluminum panels that block heat transfer — keeping the space below significantly cooler in summer. It's fully waterproof and creates a true outdoor room. The non-insulated cover uses interlocking aluminum panels that provide shade but allow some air flow. The right choice depends on your climate exposure, budget, and how you plan to use the space.
We coordinate electrical rough-in and finish for ceiling fans, recessed LED lighting, wall switches, and outdoor speakers. Skylights — acrylic dome or flat panel — can be integrated into insulated systems. All electrical work is done by licensed electricians as part of our subcontractor coordination.
Patio covers attached to the home require a building permit in most San Diego jurisdictions. We handle the permit process including drawings and plan check. Proper attachment to the home's ledger or fascia, engineered footings for posts, and code-compliant electrical are all part of our standard scope.
